Columbus Education Center

We have a new community resource being created in Herriman, the Columbus Adult Education Center - Herriman Campus. It is a nonprofit community center for literacy, English learning, community support, citizenship classes, youth & teen programs and so much more. It is a satellite program affiliated with the main center in South Salt Lake. It is community based and faith friendly and here to service residents of the south valley (mainly Herriman, Riverton & Bluffdale). Columbus will help meet the needs of the growing population of refugee families, as well as provide a place for local community service and activities.

We (Todd & Shandra Madsen from the Herriman Rose Canyon Stake) have been asked to be the Directors of the new Herriman Campus. We are thrilled to be able to serve alongside many of you to better our community. Columbus Education Center has been around for over 8 years and is 100% run by volunteers. No one is paid in this nonprofit organization and that makes the work here extra special and rewarding. Those who serve, serve because they want to be there and make a difference. Come volunteer and help us change lives!

We have a new listing for volunteers on JustServe. We will need a lot of volunteers to get the English classes up and running. English classes are the primary focus of the center, and where we need the most help in the beginning. We would appreciate your support.

What can you do?

We are so excited to see this center come to Herriman and for things to come together so quickly for an opening in January. We know the Lord's hand is in this work. If you have any questions, please contact us, we'd love to answer your questions. If you are not the point of contact for this opportunity, please forward to the person in your stake/ward who might be best to get the information out.
